This is a picture of the collection point for these stories. Artist Micheal Barnes contributed the sculpture of a drunk to help draw attention to the request for stories. Thank you Micheal.

" My Grandfather was an alcoholic. Beat my Dad, Uncle,Aunt and Grandmother. Died from liver cancer. My Family and I were hit by a drunk driver 2 weeks before Christmas. My dad suffered injuries to his spine. My Dad's line of work put him and my family in contact with a lot of alcoholics. I've seen beatings, rape, murder, and hate all at the hands of alcohol.

Alcohol sucks. PERIOD"

" I had an Aunt dying of breast cancer. Her husand was an addict and would take her Oxycontin. When she tried to hide some, he would make her feel guilty, unloved, ugly, and only half a women due to her masectomy. He was the cruelest man I have ever known and it was all because of drugs."

" My Uncle was always my hero. He was like a pirate. He grew up on the Outer Banks. He hunted and fished all his life. But at some point he just gave up and drank himself to death. The last time I saw him he was a skeleton of his former self. I visited his grave this summer. I still have the sling shot he made me when I was a kid. "

" Drugs and alcohol abuse have effected my life since I was alive. growing up my uncles were drug and alcohol abusers. Most of my family used alcohol. My first time abusing alcohol and marajuana, I was 13. Unforunately, weed became an everyday habit in high school. I look at it as a plant but not a drug. But U am sober now. It was hard to quit, and I believe it made my life worse than it would be if I never did it."
